메이븐 빌드시 '경고(WARNING)' 메시지 제거

앞서의 '별도 라이브러리 .jar 생성' 주제까지의 내용을 따라했다면, 일단 정상적으로 'Hello Java Word!'를 콘솔에 출력할 수 있지만 메이븐 빌드시에 '경고(WARNING)' 메시지가 나타난다. 이번 주제에서는 이러한 '경고(WARNING)' 메시지를 제거하는 방법을 알아보겠다.

먼저 작업한 'hello_java_world' 프로젝트의 폴더 구조는 다음과 같다.

수정전 'pom.xml' 파일 내용 확인

총 3개의 'pom.xml' 파일이 있다. 수정을 진행하기전에 기존에 작업된 'pom.xml' 파일의 내용을 먼저 확인해 본다.

'최상위 프로젝트'의 'pom.xml' 파일이 위치한 폴더 위치에서 mvn clean package를 실행하면 정상적으로 빌드가 진행되기는 하지만 몇가지 '경고(WARNING)' 메시지가 출력된 것을 볼 수 있다.

경고 메시지의 내용과 작성된 'pom.xml' 파일들의 내용을 살펴보면, 'hello_world_lib' 프로젝트의 'pom.xml' 파일에는 사용할 '자바 버전'과 자바 소스 파일의 '인코딩'을 설정하는 부분이 없다는 것을 알 수 있다.

'pom.xml' 파일 수정

관련 경고 메시지 제거를 위해서 다음과 같이 2개의 'pom.xml' 파일에 내용을 수정해줄 수 있겠다. '하위 모듈 프로젝트'에서 공통으로 사용할 설정을 '상위 프로젝트'의 'pom.xml' 파일에 정의했다. 일종의 '공통 설정 리팩터링'을 진행한 것이다.

수정된 <hello_java_world>/pom.xml

기존에 없던 properties 요소를 추가하고 하위에 maven.compiler.source, maven.compiler.target, project.build.sourceEncoding 요소들을 설정했다.

기존의 properties 요소를 삭제했다. 삭제된 properties 요소의 내용은 '상위 프로젝트'의 'pom.xml' 파일로 이동했다.

여기까지 수정을 하고 다시 mvn clean package 명령어를 실행해도 여전히 다음의 경고 메시지가 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있다.

[WARNING] system modules path not set in conjunction with -source 17

이 경고 메시지는 '자바 17' 버전 이상을 사용할 경우에 나타난다. 간단하게는 maven-compiler-plugin 플러그인의 source와 target 요소가 아닌 release 요소를 사용해 문제를 해결할 수 있다. build 요소 하위에 plugins 요소를 추가하고 maven-compiler-plugin 플러그인을 설정을 추가후 release 요소를 설정할 수도 있지만 여기서는 현재 정의된 properties 요소의 내용을 수정해서 문제를 해결해보겠다. '<hello_java_world>/pom.xml' 파일내의 properties 요소에서 기존의 maven.compiler.source와 maven.compiler.target 요소를 삭제하고 maven.compiler.release 요소를 추가한다.

이제 다시 mvn clean package 명령어를 실행하면 경고 메시지가 모두 사라진 것을 확인할 수 있다.

참고로 properties 요소에 정의된 maven.compiler.release 요소값 설정은 결과적으로 maven-complier-plugin 플러그인의 source와 target 요소를 설정하는 것이된다. project.build.sourceEncoding 요소는 특정 플러그인에 소속된 것은 아니고 '프로젝트 전체'에 적용되는 설정이다. 결과적으로 여러 플러그인에서 사용하는 '기본 인코딩'을 설정하는 것이 된다.
